Touro Law was given a B+ rating for our law school building in the Spring 2022 magazine. The article ranked law school buildings that give off special vibes, both in appearance and in functionality.

Leader in Environmental Law
Touro was ranked an A school for Environmental Law in the Spring 2022 issue of preLaw magazine. Grades were based on the breadth of the curricular offerings. Scores were weighted as follows: 30% for a concentration, 24% for a clinic, 12% for a center, 12% for an externship, 9% for a journal, 8% for a student group, 5% for a certificate, and added value for other offerings.

Touro Law receives a B+ rating in preLaw's headline article, "Most Diverse Law Schools'. This year's annual diversity ranking recognizes law schools for having student bodies that look like America and schools ramping up their diversity efforts.

2020 Recognition

Top School for Practical Training
preLaw ranked schools for their focus on giving students real-world experience before they step into the real world. It’s growing more vital since employers want grads who don’t need hand-holding. Touro Law got an A for being one of the best law schools in the country for practical training. Read the full article in their Spring 2020 publication.

Best Law School Buildings
Touro Law received a B+ on preLaw’s list of Best Law School Buildings. Aesthetics played a big part if the assessment, comprising 50% of the score. Other factors that were considered included square footage per student, library hours and number of library seats per student as well as amenities such as dining, fitness and lockers. Top School for African Americans
In their Diversity article, preLaw magazine graded schools based on diversity. Touro Law ranked one of the best law schools for African Americans. Read the full article in their Winter 2020 publication.

Top School for Public Service – Public Defender
preLaw identifies outstanding law schools for a student interested in pursuing careers in public interest and government or working as prosecutors, public defenders or clerks. Touro Law ranked in the Public Defender category. Read the full article in their Winter 2020 publication.

2019 Recognition

Employment Honor Roll
preLaw Magazine identified schools that excel at helping students land jobs in both big law and small firms. Small Law numbers were based on the number of graduates minus grads in clerkships and those pursuing further education. They included local percentages for those graduates who took jobs in-state. Touro Law was ranked among the best Top Small Law listing in the Back to School 2019 Issue.

Most Diverse Law Schools
preLaw’s grades for Most Diverse Law Schools are based on how well each school matches with the U.S. average for each minority population. For students, they look at Asian, black, Hispanic, Caucasian and American Indian populations. For faculty, they compared overall U.S. minority percentage with the percentage of minority faculty. Touro Law scored a B+ ranking in the Winter 2019 issue.

Best Law School for Practical Training
preLaw uses ABA 509 Reports for data to grade schools on practical training. This year, the ABA changed their reporting methods and preLaw changed their evaluation of law schools accordingly. preLaw gave differing weights to the various offerings. The most weight – 38% - is given to the clinical experience because of its effectiveness as a practical-training tool. Externships counted for 24%, while simulations counted for 21%. Both are considered valuable practical-training experiences, but they don’t quite rise to the level of clinical work. For clinics and simulations, prelaw calculated the percentage of seats offered per enrollment. For externships, they looked at the number of filled per enrollment. Touro Law scored an A ranking in the Spring 2019 issue.
