Goods & Services Auction to be Held on March 16, 2011

February 10, 2011

Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center’s 17th Annual Goods and Services auction will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the law school from 6-8:00 p.m. The auction is held annually to benefit Touro Law’s Public Interest Law Fellowship Program, awarding stipends to students who are dedicated to helping others through public service work during the summer. In addition, attorneys from local law firms will be honored for their dedication to public interest and pro bono work through the Public Interest Attorney of the Year Recognition Program, led by auction co-chair Lois Schlissel, Esq., managing partner of Meyer, Suozzi, English, Klein, P.C.

“The auction is our largest fundraiser for fellowships and its success depends on the participation and generosity of all involved,” said Dean Lawrence Raful. “It is important that we continue to raise enough money to support our students who are interested in public service work. Students provide important legal services for the community and these fellowships provide stipends for basic living expenses to compensate for these non-paying summer jobs.”

The evening includes both a silent and a live auction. Items for the auction are generously donated by local businesses, organizations, individuals, alumni and committee members. Prizes for this year’s auction will include sports packages, vacations, jewelry, electronics, artwork and so much more. For additional information, to nominate a Public Interest Attorney of the Year, donate an item or learn how you can help please call (631) 761-7063, e-mail auction@tourolaw.edu or visit www.tourolaw.edu/auction.
